Nikon has announced the launch of three new high end DSLR’s in India. The new models that have come to India include the FX Format CMOS sensor toting Nikon D4, D800 and the D800E. All three models would be available for sale starting next week in retail outlets.
The D4 is the new flagship model from Nikon. It features a 16.2MP (36 x 23.9mm) sensor and is mated to Nikon’s EXPEED 3 image processing engine. Features on the D4 include a wide native ISO range that varies from 100 to 12,800 ISO. The D4 has a fast startup time and is ready to shoot I under 0.012 seconds. It can capture images in RAW at up to 10 fps with full AF / AE. The frame rate increases to 11 with AF / AE locked. The D4 also gets a new Multi-Cam 3500 51 point AF system. The D4 also boasts of Ethernet connectivity options which allow it to become a part of your home network and seamlessly share, exchange files.
As for the Nikon D800, this one can be termed a compact version of the D4. Unlike the D4 however, this one sports a 36 megapixel sensor but skips the D4’s Ethernet capabilities. The autofocus system on this however is the same as that of the D4. The D800 also gets a 921k dot LCD display, RGB Matrix III meter (91,000 pixel) and not to mention, support for dual-memory card slots (CF and SDXC). The camera is also capable of video recording with support for H.264 B-Frame formats at 1080p30, 1080p24, 720p60 and 720p50 resolutions. The D800 might skip the Ethernet port but packs in a USB 3.0 port which more than compensates for the lack of Ethernet.
The third model is the D800E which is basically the same camera as the D800 without the low-pass antialiasing filter.
Nikon has priced the D4 at Rs.3,24,950. The D800 on the other hand can be yours for Rs.149,950 while the D800E will be a few grands dearer at Rs. 164,950.
