HMD Global had launched the Nokia 5 budget smartphone in India last November with a price tag of Rs. 13,499. The 2017 Nokia 8 flagship phone had arrived in October 2017 in the country with a pricing of Rs. 36,999. The Finnish firm has slashed the prices of both the smartphones.
The Nokia 5 is now selling for Rs. 12,499 whereas the Nokia 8 is now available with a massive discount of Rs 8,000. The 2017 flagship phone can be now availed at a lower price tag of Rs. 28,999.
The Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display that carries support for HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It is fueled by Snapdragon 430 chipset and 3 GB of RAM. For photography, the handset is equipped with an f/2.0 aperture 13-megapixel rear camera. It is enabled with features like dual-tone LED flash and PDAF. The front-facing camera of 8-mgeapixel is equipped with f/2.0 aperture and autofocus.
It features a native storage of 16 GB and it carries support for microSD card slot. It is fueled by 3,000mAh battery. The handset was launched with Android Nougat and the company has now rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for it.
The Nokia 8 supports QHD resolution on its 5.3-inch IPS LCD display. It features an IP54 certified splash-resistant body. The Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM are found under the hood of the device. It comes with a native storage of 64 GB and it carries support for microSD card.
The back panel of the Nokia 8 houses a pair of 13-megapixel dual camera setup by Carl Zeiss. It features a front-facing camera of 13-megapixel. The Bothie feature available on the phone allows the users to simultaneously use the front and rear cameras to shoot split screen videos or photos. It is fueled by 3,090mAh battery. The OZO Audio technology available on the Nokia 8 makes it possible to record 360-degree audio by using its three inbuilt microphones.
The Nokia 8 was treated with Android 8.0 Oreo update before the end of the previous year. The company is now gearing up to release Android 8.1 Oreo for Nokia 8 as it has already released Android 8.1 Oreo beta update for it.
The revised pricing of Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 has come into effect from today. Interestingly, the discounted pricing for both phones have been announced just ahead of HMD Global’s press meet at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech expo that will be held in Barcelona, Spain. Nokia 1, Nokia 4, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 (2018), Nokia 9 and Nokia 3310 4G are some of the phones that are speculated to get unveiled later this month.
