Nokia Asha 200 Launched in India

It was back in October that Nokia first showed off its Asha series of low to mid-range handsets to the world. A little over a month later, the first of the Asha series have made it to India. It was just last week that we had reported about the possibility of some of the Asha series’ handsets to make it to India. True to our estimate, two handsets – the Asha 200 and the Asha 300 have made their debut in India.

Let’s now take a look at the first of these two  handsets that have just made their grand Indian debut. First off, we have the Asha 200.

This is a dual SIM QWERTY keyboard laden handset that will take on the dual SIM offerings from players like Micromax, Lava and G’Five all of which had over the course of the past few years managed to yank off considerable share of the low end market from Nokia.

The 200 features a 2.4 inch, QVGA display (320*240) and weighs in at 105 grams. It gets 10 MB of internal memory which is grossly insufficient – but thanks to the micro Sd card slot, you can expand the storage to a colossal 32 GB.

The dual SIM handset gets easy swappable SIM changing functionality which means users can switch SIM cards without actually powering the phone off or by opening the back cover. It also gets a dedicated SIM manager key. On the connectivity front, the device supports Bluetooth, and EDGE networks. No support for 3G or WLAN on this one. But then, for the price this one is going to retail, most users might not need these features in the first place.

The phone does not support USB charging and uses the old Nokia 2.0 mm connector for its charging requirements. The device is fairly social media friendly with native clients for Facebook and Twitter preinstalled.

The Nokia Asha 200 can be yours for Rs. 4759
