The Nokia N8 didn’t do much in sales and wasn’t even close to being one of the best smartphones in 2011. It still had one of the best cameras loaded with a mechanical shutter, large sensor, Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash.
Though, there are rumors doing the rounds of a Nokia Lumia 900 which is supposed to be Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone, albeit with a slightly better camera than the Lumia 800. Now the latest rumors suggest that Nokia might be working on a phone equipped with a better camera than the N8 which will be based on both, Windows Phone and Symbian platforms.
This new N8 successor is said to release sometime in June of 2012, though it still not clear if this Windows Phone device is indeed the Lumia 900. Although there is no information on the positioning and the pricing front, it should be a high end device priced for the premium segment.
It’s amusing to have devices in those segments, but I believe there is an opportunity at the lower end of the market and Nokia can actually create a significant impact in the market if it launches its Windows Phones in the sub $250 (Rs. 15,000) range.
