We are of-course pretty excited about Notion Ink’s Adam which has been referred to as the iPad killer and the company has happily quoted that comparison numerous times on their online presence & offline appearances aswell. The only problem is that, the iPad has already shipped over 2 million unites to consumers and the Adam would now come only sometime closer to the holiday season in Q4. We are certain that the HP-Palm would serve its thunder by then and without a doubt the dozens of other Android tablets that are being announced along with the upcoming Chrome OS, would all compete in prime time with the Adam. The Apple iPad would also get its OS 4.0 upgrade before year end, and things are only looking tough for Adam here.
However, the good news here is the fact that Notion Ink have completed their final round of funding (they were looking for USD’s so its pretty certain that the funding must have arrived from a US group, which incidentally would also be the biggest market for Adam) and with the expertise brought in by their investors, they plan to launch the device somewhere near to Thanksgiving. NI founder Rohan Shravan is quoted as saying “I am sad to say that I have to fight every day with them to launch by July end, but they want us to hit markets only near Thanksgiving,”.
I had heard some chatter of a T-Mobile tie-up by Notion Ink before and while they aren’t coming in Q3 as planned, hope they still have their carrier tieups in order even with the new investors in place 🙂
