Well, Amazon has gone ahead and implemented it. Kindle users in the US (and hopefully, soon in other countries) will now be able to lend books on their Kindle to other users. And the best part is that the receivers need not own a Kindle to avail of the loan – they could be using the Kindle app on PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android devices.
A book can be loaned for up to 14 days on the Kindle and just as in the case of a real book, the person who has lent the book will not be able to read it while it is on loan. Of course, not ALL books can be loaned. The publisher or rights holder will determine whether a book can be lent and this fact will be shown on the Product Details page. The finer details can be read here. We are betting this is going to make e-books more popular, or at least more circulated!
