On paper, this phone has very high end specs and is great value for money.
Since, last year we have seen many international companies launch phones at reasonable prices. Motorola’s Moto G was one of the most sold phones in India thanks to the specs it offered for the price. This year we also saw the rise of Xiaomi in India. Xiaomi launched the Mi3 and the Redmi 1s and had flash sales for them. Now towards the end of this year, they have released the Redmi Note too. The One runs on CyanogenMod (CM) but after the CM–Micromax deal, the phones sold in India won’t get further updates and also won’t sport the CM logo on its back.
OnePlus was founded in China in December, 2013 by Pete Lau who was the Vice President of OPPO. It remains to be seen if OnePlus continues with CM phones in India as reports suggest that they are planning their own skin which maybe ready by February 2015. All in all, it is a great phone for the price and will create further competition in the market. Most flagships from other companies cost much more, so this phone should do well.
