Opera Mobile, the full fledged mobile browser from Opera Software is available for most popular smartphone platforms. It also has an Android version which has been around for the past few months. However, while the default browser for Android is a fully fledged one with full support for Flash (on Android 2.2 and above) and HTML 5, (on Android 2.0 and above) support for these standards were not present on Opera Mobile. For the same reason, it was difficult to recommend people to use Opera Mobile over the default browser if you were a kind of person looking for a full web experience on your phone.
Anyway, that might not last for much long because Opera has officially revealed that it would be bringing support for HTML 5 video and Adobe’s Flash Player plug-in. In an indirect admission about these technologies coming to the browser, a member from the Opera Mobile team said in a blog post;
“New web technologies aim to replace it, but Flash will be around for some time. If you have Flash Player installed on your phone, Opera will support it,”
Opera Mobile as you might be aware, is still in its beta stages in its Android avatar and as of now has decent competition in the form of the default, fully capable browser as well as the recently launched Firefox Mobile . Are you looking forward to these technologies on Opera Mobile? Now only if they bought full flash and HTML 5 support for the Symbian version of the browser as well!
