OPPO has announced the launch of the Mirror 3, a mid-range smartphone in India for Rs. 16,990. Powered by a 64-bit processor, the phone is targeted at the mid range Indian market. The Mirror 3 follows the release of the Oppo U3 and Oppo R1c and will look to provide the same quality and value for money as its predecessors. With these launches, Oppo is aggressively trying to grab a bigger pie of the lucrative Indian Smartphone industry.
The Mirror 3 has some aces down its sleeve. It features an ergonomic arc at the back, allowing the mobile phone to fit naturally into the palm of the user’s hand. The company is also betting big on the 8 megapixel Sony IMX179 Backside Illuminated (BSI) sensor which it claims can give astonishing photos even in poorly lit conditions. It also supports infrared technology which means that you can use the device to control hundreds of devices from your phone. The OPPO Mirror 3 can be charged to full power within just 90 minutes which is pretty fast indeed!
The OPPO Mirror 3 uses a 4.7-inch screen with a compact body that measures only 137.6 × 68.8 × 8.95mm and weighs as little as 126g. It features a 720p screen which translates to a respectable 312 ppi. We feel that Oppo could have done better in terms of screen size as other companies are offering 5inch screens in the same category. It features a dotted design on the back cover which is protected by scratch resistant UV coating. Like other phones by Oppo, the Mirror 3 also features the custom UI- ColorOS which is based on Android 4.4.
The Mirror 3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8916 1.2GHz 64-bit Quad-core processor and an Adreno 306 graphics processor. All this processing power is backed up by 1GB RAM. It features a Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery with no word on the standby time yet. The phone has 8 GB internal memory and supports expandable memory up to 128 GB via an external memory card. It packs a 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front camera which supports Beautify function for taking those perfect selfies.
Oppo has managed to provide some new features at this price range. It remains to be seen if Indian market is ready for another Chinese smartphone company.
