We have been seeing a lot of concept cars, while some like the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics look ravishing, there are some which look ordinary to say the least like the Terrafugia Transition. Well it promises to fly atleast which more than makes up for the looks department. Nissan’s latest concept car is one between the two, it doesn’t exactly look ravishing but it’s definitely neither bad looking as well.
Nissan has been trying their hand at building a smaller and more urban EV concept car with Pivo for quite some time. The latest version being named Pivo 3, the “3” comes from the fact that this is Nissan’s third attempt at redesigning the Pivo, which was first unveiled in 2007. The Nissan Pivo 3 boasts of self-parking and self-driving features.
The Pivo 3 has a winged door design, though not as cool as the one we saw on the Mercedes Benz F125. The overall ergonomics of the Pivo 3 are much similar to Audi’s Electric Urban concept car. The Pivo 3 has features like all wheel-steering and Automated Valet Parking (AVP) to name a few among others. Oh! And regarding the self-driving part; when combined with a smartphone the Pivo 3 can find its user and reach them using its autonomous driving skills.
The Pivo 3 is to be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show next month. As per Francois Bancon, deputy divisional GM for product strategy, there are no plans currently to put the Pivo 3 into the production stage. Well looking at the design and the impressive features of the Nissan Pivo 3, I’m sure Nissan will have a lot of buyers lining up outside their showrooms.
