The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), an organization under the Ministry of Culture has done various excavations and surveys for preserving the Culture and Heritage of India, for which it totally serves. This time The Archaeological Survey of India has tied up its relationship with Indian state-owned telecom communications company BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited).
As the Global telecom infrastructure provider UTStarcom confidently once reported that by the end of 2015, India will be powered with Wi-Fi hotspots in top 20 cities of the country. This will be another stepping stone after free Wi-Fi has been installed in Patna and in Shimla for a particular radius of operation.
This time with the Modi government as the incumbent party – which promotes Tourism as one of its goals to achieve, the ASI has initiated the MOC for setting up Wi-Fi networks at Taj Mahal for providing internet access for tourists. Wi-Fi hotspots will be available for the tourists from June 16 as per reports from Times of India. The network connection is absolutely free for the travellers for the first 30 minutes.
More usage of data requires a minimal amount to be paid at Rs. 30/- for every additional hour. This Wi-Fi access will be available at various Historical monuments and Cultural heritage sites as listed in the BSNL tariff website. They include: Fatehpur Sikri, Sarnath temple, Konark temple, Jagannath temple, Bodh Gaya, Shore Temple, Hampi, Khajurao and finally Thanjavur. In addition to this, BSNL also signed as a partner with US based QuadGen Wireless Solutions Inc.
The enormous effort put by BSNL and the Government of India’s fast approach to make India a fully developed country adds value, Shalin Shah who rightly said India can catch up on global stage as they are moving in the right direction at right pace.
Taj Mahal has become a critical spot as ASI is planning to launch rain-water harvesting systems in addition to the Wi-Fi facility, which requires another 8 more wells to be built along with 2 other which has already been built.
