The Yu Yureka was recently in news for its first flash sale which was over in just 3 seconds. For those who couldn’t get their hands on the phone, the smartphone will go on sale again next week on January 22, and registrations for the second flash sale are now open on Amazon. Noticeably, the customers who had registered for the earlier flash sale will be automatically pre-registered by Amazon. The first flash sale had witnessed over 3 lakh registrations for the phone. Amazon or Micromax haven’t revealed the number of units they are putting for sale, this time. Maybe, because of the previous controversies 😉
Hopefully, this time Amazon and Micromax will be able to shake off the bad experiences associated with the first Yureka flash sale. For those who don’t know, the Amazon website crashed in the middle of the sale which left many users unsatisfied as they were unable to checkout after putting the phone in their cart. Customers were also shocked as the price of the phone somehow increased from INR 8,999 to INR 12,499. Amazon then apologized for this price glitch through a twitter post.
On top of all the technical faults, there was a debate over the amount of units put up for sale by Amazon with several reports claiming that it was way below the promised 10,000 units. All this left a sour taste in most of the potential buyers vying to get hold of the phone. Many of them chose Twitter to vent their frustrations. Some of them even praised Flipkart for its efforts of organizing the flash sales with Xiaomi for the Redmi range of devices.
To recap, the Yu Yureka has been launched in India for Rs 8,999. It has a 5.5-inch HD IPS display and is fueled by a Snapdragon 615 octa-center processor with 64-bit capability and coupled with 2GB of RAM. The cell phone offers 16gb internal storage that can be further extended using a microSD card.
Amazon and Micromax need to put on a better show this time. Otherwise, they risk losing a lot of customers along with a reputable brand image.
