Reliance has announced the launch of a new 3G enabled 7 -inch tablet in India earlier today. This new Android powered device seems to be a better spec’d version of the Reliance 3G Tab which was announced a few months ago and received considerable interest from people. That said, we do not have official figures from Reliance as to how successful that product was.
The new Reliance Tab features a 7 inch capacitive display with five point touch capability. Under the hood is an yet to be revealed processor that is claimed to run at 1.4 Ghz. Supporting the processor is 512 MB worth of RAM. The screen resolution is a decent 1024*800 pixels. For imaging purposes, the 3 megapixel rear camera should keep you happy – although we are yet to see how good (or bad!) the shots turn out to be. The tablet comes preloaded with a bunch of applications as well. For anything more, you can head to the Google Play Store and install stuff.
Reliance adds that it is offering free benefits worth Rs 6250 to people who buy this tablet from them. The company would offer them 3GB worth of 3G data for 3 months – for free! This of course is apart from 3 months Free video calling for Local and STD to Reliance 3G. Then there is the free voice rental for 12 months (Postpaid) along with Free Global calling worth Rs. 250. Other additions to the offer include a 1 year free subscription to McAfee Mobile Security, 2 months free subscription of BigFlix and a free 4GB micro SD card. All these offerings combined result in the sum of Rs.6250.
The Tab is priced at Rs. 14,499 and would be made available through retail channels as well as Reliance’s’ own exclusive stores. We hope to get hold of a review unit of the same very soon.
