Folks these days buy cases to stylize their smartphones as much as they want to protect it. But majority of them get bored of their cases and are constantly looking for a new one to buy. But how about a case that can change its looks or change its color to suit your mood daily?
Well Griffin promises to do just that with its Snappy Stripes case. So we decided to go ahead and check it out.
For starters, the case comes in this attractive packaging which ensures that your product reaches you in a safe and sound condition.
Now talking about the case; it is a polycarbonate shell which has blocks of multicolored stripes of varying length and width on the back of the case which makes the case look really funky and cool. Overall there are a combination of about 28 color stripes which can be mixed and matched daily in order to change the look of the case every day.
Now removing these stripes or changing them in the beginning can be a bit tricky as they fit quite tightly at the back of the case. Hence removing them or putting them on can be a bit uncomfortable. Though, I believe that is a good thing as this ensures that they wouldn’t come off the back easily during daily use.
Also, I noticed that there are only limited choices of color stripes available in the box. Ideally I would’ve liked to have additional colors, but logistically that would be very difficult for Griffin to implement. Now I have my own doubts on the longevity of these stripes staying on the back of the cover, and they might come out easily and may not fit in the grooves as tightly with time.
Now that we are done talking about the ‘style’ aspect of the case, let us move on to the more important one that is the ‘protection’ aspect. The polycarbonate shell fits quite easily and snugly on the iPhone 4 / 4S and feels pretty comfortable in the hand which is enhanced by the thin and light design of the case.
The stripes on the back of the case also improves grip on the device facilitating confident one handed operation in daily use. The case does a good job at protecting the iPhone from minor drops, scratches on the back and dust as well.
For some reason the case is slightly raised on the top and the bottom which I found to be a little discomforting, but not something which is deal breaking.
