A report from a new survey by Baird Equity Research concluded that developers sentiment toward BlackBerry 10 has reached new lows from 4.6 points out of 10 three months ago, to 3.8 — a 17 percent decrease. Also developers interest for BlackBerry 7 declined to 2.8 from 3.8. However, head of RIM’s Developer Program, Alec Saunders denies that the developers are losing their interest in BB10 OS.
According to the survey, Baird had pointed that developers who were never, all that faithful to BlackBerry OS have already moved out leaving a significantly small but a loyal developer base.
In his post, on the BlackBerry Developer Blog, Alec stated, “I was pretty shocked by the findings. I was shocked because the numbers in the report do not gel with what we’re seeing in the real world. The report contradicts much of what we are seeing and hearing in our developer community.”
Saunders points out that the BlackBerry App World ™ vendor base has grown 157 percent. Add to that the BlackBerry PlayBook app catalog, which has grown by more than 15,000 apps since January 1 of this year. Research In Motion is currently hosting BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour in around 23 cities across the world. The event is witnessing over capacity registration, in almost every city.
When speaking about the developers, Alec says that, the feedback from many developers regarding the BB10 is simply amazing. He further said that the developers love the open nature of our platform and the way we treat them, which is better than anyone else in the mobile industry.
