We all know that, Research In Motion is planning to release the BlackBerry 10 OS based smartphones in the last quarter of 2012, followed by PlayBook on the same platform. But from what we have heard, developers may be the first one to get their hands on the BB10 prototype smartphones, at the BlackBerry 10 Jam conference in May.
Approximately 2000 developers, among those who are scheduled to participate in the BB Jam conference, will receive the prototype smartphones, in order to test out, the new BB10 OS from RIM. The conference is scheduled to run alongside BlackBerry World Expo at Orlando, Florida in May.
RIM has clarified that, the prototype handset, will not be an early version of the device and will definitely see some changes by the launch, which is speculated to be launched in the Q4 of 2012. RIM has termed the ‘in-progress’ software as the, ‘BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha operating system’. The software is a modified version of the PlayBook OS, with a view to help the developers on ‘how to build apps’ on the BlackBerry form factor and tool sets.
At the BB 10 Jam, developers will also be enjoying an opportunity of full access to BlackBerry platform experts, who would guide and provide tips and tricks on how to get started with the BlackBerry 10 Native SDK, WebWorks SDK, Adobe Air SDK, and Android SDK, suggested a post on the RIM’s dev blog.
Let’s just hope, that with all of the above, we can at least hope for some better apps on BlackBerry 10 rather than the mediocre apps currently available to us on the PlayBook.
