Even as we wait for the release of Rockstar Games Wild West action game Red Dead Redemption on consoles, we can now get a sample of just what the game will be like on Facebook. Rockstar have just released a Facebook application based on the game, titled “Read Dead Redemption: Gunslingers.” To quote the release: “Inspired by Red Dead Redemption itself, Red Dead Redemption: Gunslingers is an RPG social game experience created specifically for Facebook, where players can duel against friends, foes and strangers alike and level up to become the most notorious gunslinger in the land.”
Gamers can choose a gunslinger identity for themselves and choose between three classes: Outlaw (power), Fast Hands (speed), and Sharpshooter (accuracy). Opponents can be challenged to duels with the outcome being rendered through “a dynamic and bloody shootout video sequence,” (yes, that’s the release again). One can collect Achievement distinctions, compete with friends and of course, post comments on each others’ character walls.
All of which is a rather Far Cry (pun intended, of course) from Farmville. The game is still in beta and is being fine tuned but those wanting a slice of the action can look it up at.
