As per Tweakers, Sony is toying with the idea of joining the Windows Phone camp. Well considering the performance of Sony’s Android based smartphones it isn’t really difficult to image them making the move.
On the other hand, when you factor in the fact that Sony and Microsoft are competitors in the gaming segment with their gaming products, i.e. PlayStation and the Xbox, it somehow starts to seem a farfetched rumor. Though, still with mobile and gaming being separate divisions within the organization you never know.

To add to it, Sony Ericsson was rumored to be working on a Windows Phone device in 2010 and they even had a working prototype in 2011. But now Ericsson shares have been bought over by Sony and things have changed since then. Also there were talks of Sony demoing a Windows Phone device at the MWC in Barcelona as well, which turned out to be a rumor.
Once one of the sought after top brands, off late Sony has fallen far from the echelon’s in the smartphone market. And with rapidly changing strategy at Sony you never know, they might even come up with a mobile OS of their own. we have already heard of the “Four Screen” strategy wherein Sony is planning to fuel the content for their television, smartphones, tablets and laptops using the PlayStation Network, the Sony Entertainment Network and Sony pictures as well.
We will keep our eyes and ears wide open to lap up any further development on the same and share it with you here.
