Looks like Samsung is in no mood to rest even after managing to sell the recently launched Galaxy Note 2 Phablet in huge numbers across the globe. If we are to believe fresh reports emanating from a usually trustworthy corner of the blogosphere, Samsung is planning to come up with a lower priced alternative to the Galaxy Note 2 in the near future.
The Galaxy Note 2 although popular, is by no means an affordable device. Looks like Samsung wants to tap in to that segment of the market which aspires to own the Note 2 – but didn’t do so just because of the price. From what we now know, this stripped down Note 2 will feature lesser RAM and a non-Super AMOLED display panel – driving the cost down reasonably. Another thing that might be omitted is the S-Pen handwriting recognition functionality.
It was just last month that Samsung revealed that it managed to sell over 5 million Galaxy Note 2 devices across the globe. Two million of those shipments (not sales!)came in just one month! It is highly plausible that sales of the device might have appreciated in the past few days. Also, with the holiday season looming large, Samsung is hoping for the Galaxy Note 2 to breach the 10 million sales mark in the not too distant future.
In related news, there are rumours emanating about the possibility of Samsung coming up with a 13 inch tablet as a rival to the Asus Transformer.
Only time will tell whether these reports are indeed true. That said, what do you think of a more affordable Galaxy Note 2?
