Samsung Galaxy J Launched: Is A Cross Between the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3

Samsung earlier today officially took covers off its newest “Galaxy” branded device. Christened the Samsung Galaxy J, the device is somewhat of a cross between the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. The device, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC also packs in 3 GB of RAM and gets 32 GB of on board memory with the capability to enhance it further using Micro SD cards.

While the display size of the Galaxy J is 5 inches – which is roughly the same size as the one on the Galaxy S4, the processor and the RAM seems to have been directly lifted from the Note 3 and juxtaposed on a smaller phone. All three handsets have 13 megapixel cameras as well as 1080p, full HD displays. Nothing much to choose from there. The phone runs Android 4.3 at launch and would soon be updated to KitKat. Powering the Galaxy J is a 2600 mAH battery which feels a tad inadequate.

Samsung specific blog SamMobile reports that the handset would be made available in Taiwan starting mid-December for $740 off-contract, and for $270 with a carrier contract. While the phone would be made in three colour options – red, blue and white, the blue variant would only be available in Japan. Strange, no?

There is no word as yet of an India launch.
