On 25th February, Samsung had globally introduced the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship phones ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech expo in Barcelona, Spain. Today, the South Korean company had held an exclusive launch event in New Delhi to announce the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones for India. The main highlights of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are variable aperture cameras, stereo speakers, powerful specs and the impressive bezel-less design.
Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ Specs and Features
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ respectively feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch S-AMOLED Infinity Display. These flagships support QHD+ resolution and offer an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The Exynos 9810 chipset powers the Galaxy S9 duo. The S9 has 4 GB of RAM and 3,000mAh battery. It is equipped with a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12-megapixel rear camera that can shoot images with f/2.4 aperture in bright light and it can switch to f/1.5 aperture for capturing photos in dim-light conditions. It features an 8-megapixel autofocus enabled selfie snapper.
The Galaxy S9+ features 6 GB of RAM and a larger battery of 3,500mAh capacity. Its rear-mounted dual camera setup includes a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12-megapixel and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. Both the lenses are equipped with OIS. The handset is fitted with the same selfie shooter that is available on the S9.
Both the Galaxy phones feature 64 GB and 256 GB storage options. For additional storage, these phones are enabled with support for up to 400 GB microSD card. The S9 duo are loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo and the latest Grace UX. The AR Emoji allows users to create 3D avatars that can be used as emoji while messaging. The Bixby Vison function available in the camera app can be used for real-time translation, scene recognition and more.
The Galaxy S9 duo deliver impressive audio experience as they are blessed with AKG tuned stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos surround sound. Other common features of S9 and S9+ include IP68 certified chassis, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack. As far as the design of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are concerned, they appear quite similar to Galaxy S8 and S8+. However, the S9 duo feature more reduced bezels compared to their predecessors.
Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ Pricing
The 64 GB and 256 GB Galaxy S9 models are respectively priced at Rs. 57,900 and Rs. 65,900. On the other side, the 64 GB and 256 GB Galaxy S9+ models carry respective pricing of Rs. 64,900 and Rs. 72,900. These phones will be available for buying from March 16 in colors like Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple through Samsung shop, Flipkart and offline retailers.
Customers who purchase the Galaxy S9 or S9+ through HDFC debit/credit card can avail Rs. 6,000 cashback both online or offline. Paytm Mall is also providing Rs. 6,000 cashback to the buyers of S9 and S9+. The South Korean company is providing an additional price cut of Rs. 6,000 on exchange of an older Samsung phone. Airtel’s offer includes making a down payment of Rs. 9,900 and then making monthly payments of Rs. 2,499 per month. The mobile operator will be providing the customers of S9 and S9+ with 2 TB of data during the period. Jio is providing an annual offer of Rs. 4,999 that also tags along 1 TB of data. Vodafone is giving away one-year free subscription of Netflix for the buyers of Galaxy S9 and S9+.
