Samsung has gone official with its latest Honeycomb tablets in India. The Samsung GALAXY Tab 750 (internationally known as Tab 10.1 or 7500) and GALAXY Tab 730 (internationally known as Tab 8.9 or 7300) would go on sale by the end of August. Powered by Android Honeycomb 3.1, these tablets run Samsung’s TouchWiz UI to separate them from the likes of Acer Iconia and Motorola Xoom which already retail in India.
As the international naming suggests, the GALAXY Tab 750 is the 10.1-inch version, whereas the GALAXY Tab 730 is 8.9-inch. Samsung is promoting the same with thinner & lighter design along with Adobe Flash support. Samsung has managed to get its pricing better than what Motorola could manage with the Xoom or HTC with the Flyer, the Tab 750 costs Rs 36,200 and the 730 are at Rs. 33,990. Samsung also offers Vodafone connectivity with 2GB/month data connectivity @ Rs 3000 for 6 months, we doubt if that’s very lucrative.
Even as Samsung faces stiff resistance from Apple’s lawsuits across the globe, the Korean co has done a grand launch in India. Given the state of the judiciary system in India (and the relatively small tablet market) we wonder if Apple would go after them here, as well.
