Samsung today launched the N100 netbook, a successor of the Samsung N150 launched last year. Samsung is banking on the success of the N150 and have designed the N100 on similar lines. The N100 has a dual core Intel Atom processor along with an ultra portable casing.
Samsung N100 is a highly portable netbook weighing just 1.03kg. It also has a scratch resistant casing which makes it standout from the normally fragile netbook category. It has a 10.1″ (1024*600) WSVGA LED display which has a anti-reflective matt surface so that viewability is highly improved outdoors as well. The matt surface also helps reduce the ‘mirror effect’ reducing the strain on the eyes even after viewing for long hours. Couple it with the scratch resistant screen and you have a very impressive display on the N100.
The Samsung N100 uses the Meego operating system and also has free DOS or Genuine Windows 7 operating platform as factory options. Coming back to the hardware it also has an ergonomic keyboard with intelligent key spacing. N100 has two USB ports, a 4 in 1 memory card reader and a VGA port as connectivity options. Sadly no USB 3.0 there. It comes with a 250 GB HDD and a 1 GB DDR3 memory.
The Samsung N100 is attractively priced at Rs. 12,290. There are eight other models available in the price range of Rs 12,290/- to Rs 21, 990.
Must admit though, that netbook launches are increasingly becoming rare these days in the age of the tablets. Though the tablet market is catching up fast the netbook market is still there to stay for some time. We would love to know what makes you choose a netbook over a tablet in comments below.
