Samsung has announced the launch of it is latest no frills clamshell phone in Russia. Known as the E2530, the device is a low end handset targeted at people looking for a simple handset that can do just about making calls and sending text messages.
The E2530 gets dual displays, with the external display bearing a mirror finish making it indiscernible at first sight. The external display has a resolution of 96*96 pixels. Flip open the phone and you have a 2-inch, 128 x 160 pixels display.
On the connectivity front, the device features support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks. There is no 3G support – as expected. The phone however is social networking friendly with preinstalled apps for Facebook and Twitter.
Other notable additions include a 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1, access to Samsung Apps, a very basic 1.3MP camera, and MicroSD card support for expanding the internal memory.
The phone is priced at about $125 in Russia and hopefully we’d be seeing this one in the Indian markets soon as well! The converted price comes to around Rs.5700. But we believe this one would have to be priced at around the 3000 mark for it to sell well.
