Samsung earlier today launched its newest Android powered handsets the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the compact Galaxy S4 Mini in India. The launch of the Galaxy S4 Zoom comes at a time when Nokia is preparing to bring its 41 megapixel monster, the Nokia EOS Windows Phone based cameraphone to the market. That phone is scheduled to land on July 11, just two days from now.
That brings us to the Galaxy S4 Zoom which is a unique handset in itself. The Zoom is not only a full fledged Android powered smartphone, but it also doubles up as a point and shoot camera complete with 10x Optical Zoom and a 16MP BSI CMOS Sensor! The phone camera also gets a built-in Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) which is usually found only on higher end cameras. As expected from a device of its class, the Galaxy S4 Zoom features a powerful xenon flash that should be of help during low light photography.
The Galaxy S4 Zoom’s phone part constitutes of a 4.4 inch, 960*540 pixel Super AMOLED capacitive display. The phone runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2 underneath Samsung’s own Touchwiz UI. The phone has been made available in white and black colors and is priced at Rs 29,900/-. It is being launched with attractive introductory offers of a free Flip Cover, Interest free EMI Offer for 6 months and 2 GB 3G Data free per month for 3 months from Reliance.
Next up is the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini which as the name suggests is a mini version of the Galaxy S4. This one features a 4.27” qHD Super AMOLED + display and weighs just 108g. Powering the device is a 1.7GHz dual core processor. The phone also features a 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a1.9-megapixel HD front-facing camera. The GALAXY S4 mini will be available in two colors, White Frost and Black Mist. It is priced at Rs 27,900/- and like the Zoom, this one too will be launched with an introductory offer of 2 GB 3G Data free per month for 3 months from Reliance.
