Samsung Says Microwave Oven behind the Exploding Galaxy SIII

While imploding smartphones isn’t a recent phenomena, this one on Samsung’s latest flagship device the Galaxy SIII had caused quite a lot of stir around the globe forcing Samsung to jump into action and go into damage control mode.

Immediately after the incident Samsung issued a press release stating that they were in the process of acquiring the handset for carrying out further investigations on the smartphone. They also assured that all the Samsung devices are completely safe, with Samsung practicing highest industry safety standards.

Samsung even went ahead and contracted Fire Industry UK to conduct an independent third party investigation into the matter. And surprisingly the investigations revealed that the damage caused to the Galaxy SIII is the result of “an external energy” being applied to the device and the damage caused to the device was similar to that of a microwave oven. Samsung Tommorow posted a link citing the result of the reports.

The Irish user named dillo2k10 who had earlier posted a complaint for the same on Boards an Irish forum, later posted another update accepting his mistake and stated that the phone must have exploded after it got wet and was put in an oven by a friend in order to revive it.

So apparently the explosion of the device was only due to the mistake of the user (or perhaps his friend) who put the phone into the microwave oven. So the rest of you folks who use the Galaxy SIII can breathe easy and yes feel free to put the device in the pocket of your jeans. ?
