Just when you thought Samsung had pretty much given up on their Windows Phone commitments, we hear this. The Korean mobile phone manufacturer is reportedly readying a brand new flagship Windows Phone powered handset that will debut sometime next year. Known as the Samsung SM W750V, this one will most likely run the much improved Windows Phone 8 with the GDR3 update. For those of you who are still in doubt regarding Samsung’s Windows Phone strategy, we might as well remind you that the company also recently issued official GDR3 update for its existing flagship – the Ativ S.
The SM W750V would likely feature a 5-inch, 1080p display and some really potent hardware – quite possibly the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. But, as of now, we only know details regarding the display size. Information regarding the handset was leaked off a listing by Zauba – a website that displays data pertaining to India’s export and imports. On the website, 25 units of the handset is clearly mentioned to have been shipped from Korea to Bangalore, India for testing purposes. Two units are headed towards Delhi, where the company’s India head office is situated.
While this does not signify that Samsung is very bullish about its Windows Phone prospects, the news would certainly be welcomed by stakeholders in the Windows Phone eco system. Currently, only Nokia seems to be the one actively involved with Windows Phone. HTC and Samsung do have an occasional roll-out. Do you think Samsung would be seen rolling out other Windows Phone powered devices in the future – especially after Microsoft taking over Nokia’s handset business?
