Samsung is going fast with the Galaxy series and this time its not smartphones but media players that is launching in new flavors. Just announced for Russia and Switzerland is the Galaxy S 4.0 WiFi and Galaxy S 5.0. The GalaxyS 4.0 as you would expect is a 4″ screen while the latter is a 5″ screen (if it was Dell, this would have been called a tablet). Samsung has both these PMP’s running Android (2.2 Froyo) which means the Android market would bring apps on this.
The hardware specs are rich with a GHz processor, 8 or 16GB integrated memory with microSD expansion, also adding HD video capabilities with video calling. GPS as well if you please. The pricing is unknown (said to be ‘affordable’), but we like the aggression on the media player front. Apple did well with its iPod touch and there is no reason why others can’t make a smartphone sans the phone. Samsung is assuring a Gingerbread upgrade to these Android players, a strong addition to the portfolio.
