Samsung officially unveiled not one but two of their latest flagship phones, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge at the ‘Unpacked event’. Along with announcing phones, Samsung also revealed its new mobile payment service called Samsung Pay.
The Korean firm has not continued with its plastic casing for both the smartphones thus ditching the monotonous look. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has a curved screen on both the sides. Both the phones have a screen size of 5.1 inch. The resolution on the phone is 1440 X 2560 pixels giving it a stunning display of 577 ppi which is the highest pixel per inch offered till now. This will enhance the quality of the photos and videos, multifold.
Both these phones run on Android Lollipop (5.0) and feature a 14nm octa-core mobile processor with 64-bit capability. Samsung has not revealed their brand of processors used in both the devices as they longer are not partnering with Qualcomm for processors. Both these phones come with a 3 GB of RAM and UFS 2.0 flash memory which will provide higher performance along with a enhanced memory speed. Both the phones are available in the storage variant of 32,64 or 128 GB.
Like everything, Samsung is offering the best specs and the camera is not an exception. What is noteworthy is that the camera on the Galaxy S6 Edge protrudes a little just like the camera of the iPhone 6. The primary camera is 16 megapixel with the additional Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), low light video, high clear zoom, virtual shot, slow motion, fast motion, pro mode, selective focus and faster autofocus to quickly capture. Samsung claims that the camera will launch in the fastest speed of 0.7 seconds which is faster than any other Samsung phones. Also, the camera can be accessed quickly by double pressing the central home button on the front of either phones. Both the back and front-facing cameras offer a high dynamic range (HDR) mode that helps to shoot in low-light and balance the contrast.
The phones are also the first to feature dual-standard wireless charging technology which is built inside the handsets. Samsung also said that it is going to reduce the amount of bloatware on both the handsets with a considerable amount of 40%, now that’s a good news which will make us hope that the phones will be optimum in performance.
The price of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge hasn’t been revealed yet but don’t worry we will keep you updated.
