Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 10.1 Pricing

At the ongoing CTIA Wireless conference at Orlando, Florida, Samsung has taken the covers of its much rumored and talked about 8.9 -inch tablet. The company also revealed the prices of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that was announced at the MWC  a few weeks ago.

The 8.9 inch Galaxy Tab will ship this summer and would be only available in Wi-Fi-only. The device will be available in two versions; 16GB and 32 GB with both of them priced at $469 and $569 respectively. The larger 10.1 inch tablet will start shipping starting June 8 and would be priced at $499 for the 16GB version and $599 for the 32 GB version.

Both the tablets run the latest version of Android for Tablets – Honeycomb and are powerd by dual core processors. Both the tablets are thinner than Apple’s iPad 2 at just 8.6 mm thi(ck)n. The batteres are rated to last 10 hours with nominal usage. The 8.9 inch tablet has a 6000mAH battery while its larger bro packs in a 6800 mAH battery.

On the software front, Samsung has added its Touchwiz UI atop Honeycomb. This might not exactly go down well with the purists out there. But the Touchwiz implementation does add some cool features. We will need to check them out first before we can comment on the new UI.
