Sony Ericsson to unveil PlayStation Phone on Dec 9

Surprises come in all shapes and sizes. But sometimes some people get so excited that they can’t keep surprises as secret agenda. Sony Ericsson has sent out an Invite about Sony Ericsson France CEO Pierre Peron to make ‘most anticipated presentation of the decade’ to several Europe based media houses. Out of them No where else.fr also received the invite that carries icons of the game buttons found on PlayStation console game controller and also phone icon carrying similar design aesthetics.

It’s obvious and clear that Sony will show the PlayStation phone and it’s purported images were already leaked on the web by Engadget. PlayStation Phone will come with 4.1-inch touchscreen and will run Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread update. Internally, the phone will have 1GHz microprocessor, 512MB RAM to run the Gingerbread update smoothly and 1GB ROM.

But what part of  ‘PlayStation’ brand would this phone carry? Well, along with the Android Marketplace, this PlayStation Phone will connect to PlayStation Network. Last year in 2009, Sony at an Media/Investor conference showed a slide about New Challenge of offering Networked Services – Music, Movies, Games and eBooks to Mobile Platforms. Next Slide talks about working closely with Sony Ericsson. Collating all this together, Sony will finally unveil PlayStation Network service for Mobile platform and it will start off with PlayStation Phone first.

Earlier this week, Telecom Paper reported that IDC reports note Android phone sales will over take the iPhone sales. Peron stated that Sony Ericsson is still in talks with Microsoft over Windows Phone 7. However, the company prefers to use Android since it is flexible to be installed on phones with different designs.  Sony Ericsson is bit skeptical about rolling out Windows Phone 7 phones since it hardware requirements laid down by Microsoft will force them to standardize the handsets.

Peron will make the presentation on Dec 9 at 20:00 hours. Have you got anything to spin around?
