Days after landing in the UK, Sony Ericsson’s brand new flashship Android devices, the Xperia Arc and the gaming centric Xperia Play have made it to India. Both the phones run the latest version of Android for smartphones – Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). We have talked a lot about these phones in the past as well. But here’s a small refresher course anyway.
The Xperia Play, is the worlds first PlayStation cerified phone and is powered by a 1Ghz Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU with Adreno 205 GPU to boost the all important graphics performance. There would also be a load of exclusive games for the phone arriving in the weeks to follow. The display on this one is a 4.2 inch one with a resolution of 854*480. It gets 512MB of RAM and 384 MB of internal memory and has an 8.1 megapixel camera at the back. The phone also feature an HDMI port. All the usual conenctivity options expected in a phone of this caliber are in there as well.
As for the Xperia Arc, this one has to be one of the sleekest Android phones you would ever lay your hands on. At just 8.7mm thin, this one is slimmer than the iPhone 4. The Arc is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU with Adreno 205 GPU. Like the Play, this one too has an 8 megapixel shooter at the back. The screen size and resolution too remain similar.
The Xperia Play would be launched here soon with a price tag of Rs. 35,000. The Xperia Arc on the other hand is already on sale here for Rs. 32,000. That said, like the usual norm is there are a couple of online retailers selling the phones for much lesser prices. That said, the original prices does seem a bit too steep to us because even the recently launched LG Optimus 2X with obviously better hardware is priced lesser than these phones
