Remember the Sony Ericsson Yendo Walkman phone? The phone was first seen back in June 2010, and Sony Ericsson had previewed it in India in August promising a September launch. After that Sony Ericsson seems to have hit a roadblock with it still showing no sign of a launch in sight. Earlier today, we saw fresh reports which point towards a February 2011 launch of this phone – thats almost eight months after the phone was fist displayed!
Sony Ericsson is apparently unhappy with the final software version for the Yendo – and has been therefore continuously postponing its launch. Customers in India might have to wait longer because Sony Ericsson lists the Yendo to be “arriving in three months”. If we are to assume that the website has been updated recently, we are looking for a launch in March.
The Yendo is a mid range Walkman branded handset complete with a 2.6 inch QVGA touchscreen display, a 3.5 mm headset jack, social networking integration (Facebook, Twitter, Orkut), Google search, a 2MP camera, and MicroSD card support. The phone does not support 3G networks.
Sony Ericsson has had a very poor record in delivering handsets on time. Of late, the company has been known to be notoriously slow in bringing Android updates to their devices.
