Sony Mobiles launched its latest flagship device called the Xperia Ion, also dubbed as the “HD Powerhouse” was launched in India on Tuesday for Rs. 36,999.
The Sony Xperia ion boasts of some impressive specs which includes the beautiful 4.55” TFT LCD HD display with a resolution of 1280 x720 enhanced with Sony Mobile Bravia Engine and scratch resistant mineral glass.
The Xperia ion runs on Android 4.0 i.e. ICS and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and has an internal memory of 16GB expandable up to 32 GB along with 1GB of RAM.
On the multimedia front, it has a 12 MP rear camera which shoots video at full HD and a 1.3 MP VGA camera on the front. On the connectivity front the Xperia ion has WI-Fi & Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC and micro USB 2.0.
Other features include xLoud, audio filter technology to enhance your music experience via the speakers and 3D motion gaming among others.
Prasun Kumar, Marketing Head discussed how Sony’s four screen strategy referred to as “play, watch, listen and share” has played a part in the overall features and design of the devices. Mr Kumar also announced an exclusive tie up with Airtel, wherein a new Xperia ion buyer will get 500MB of 3G data/month for 3 months along with 200 minutes of Mobile TV for 2 months as well.
The Sony Xperia ion will be available in two colors viz, red and black in retail stores across India.
