Sony’s ‘PROselfie’ smartphone offering — Xperia C3 Dual, originally got announced back in July. Today, the company has officially launched it for the Indian market. It’ll be available starting next week, that is, 1st September for a steep price tag of Rs. 23,990.
As far as the selfie needs go, Sony’s incorporated a 5 megapixel front shooter. It’s a 25mm wide-angle lens camera with 80 degrees field of view and 720p video recording support. It has a Superior Auto mode which Sony claims will make your selfie portraits look professional. Wait there’s more, Sony’s added an app named ‘Portrait retouch’ which allows the user to choose from 10 different beauty styles, add make-up effects, choose decorative frames, or add a bit of eye sparkle. You can even retouch two people in the same shot, all in real-time and then snap your selfie. And don’t worry if you’re stuck in that dark corner of the bar trying to take a picture in low-light, because Sony’s also giving an LED flash sitting besides the front camera. Of course, there’s also an 8 megapixel camera on the back with a similar flash.
As far as other specs go, Xperia C3 Dual packs a 5.5-inch 1280×720 pixel Triluminos display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor alongside Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. The battery life is supported by a 2,500mAh unit and comes with STAMINA Mode 3.0. The device is dual-SIM and comes with 8GB internal storage expandable upto 32GB via a microSD card. It will be sold in Black, White and Mint colour options in India.
Selfies are a trend now and smartphone manufacturers are leaving no stone unturned to catch-up on it. But we wonder if customers will be willing to purchase a phone purely on its ability to take good pictures with its front-facing camera. Because other than that, the specs of this phone are similar to a sub-Rs. 15k phone.
