After announcing the Xperia X and Xperia XA in India, Sony has finally decided to announce the Xperia E5 globally. The smartphone was spotted out a while ago on their social media platforms and pulled off later. It may have been a pure accident but we knew about the device well in advance and it is surprising that Sony actually took a while to confirm the phone.
The device is a strictly mid-range smartphone that comes with a 5-inch display with a 720P resolution. Powering the phone is the Quad Core chipset from MediaTek, MT6735. There is a 1.5GB RAM on board and 16GB internal storage which can be expanded further thanks to a Micro SD card slot that is present. The rear camera is 13MP while the front-facing snapper is 5MP. The phone weighs less than 150 grams, thanks to its plastic and rubber construction.
There is a Dual SIM as well as a single SIM variant of the phone available and it runs on the latest Android Marshmallow out of the box. The Xperia E5 will be released in selected markets including the likes of Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. It will support LTE bands of the said regions. The phone has been priced at about 199 Euros, which when converted, comes to about Rs 15,000.The Xperia E5 is available in two colors, white and black.
