Sony Xperia XZ1 that was showcased at IFA 2017 tech trade show in Germany earlier in this month has been unveiled in India today. It is driven by Snapdragon 835 and comes preloaded with Android 8.0 Oreo. Also, it features a stellar camera that can shoot super slow-motion videos.
Design and Display
The metal unibody chassis of the Sony Xperia XZ1 measures 148 x 73.4 x 7.4 mm and weighs 155 grams. It has rounded edges and sharp corners. The phone comes in four colors: Black, Warm Silver, Venus Pink and Moonlit Blue. With IP68 certification onboard, the XZ1 is water and dust resistant.
The 5.2-inch FHD IPS LCD display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display carries support for HDR and 138 percent sRGB color gamut. It is also equipped with Triluminos and X-Reality engine proprietary technologies from Sony.
Cameras
One of the best features of the Sony Xperia XZ1 is its rear-facing Motion Eye camera that includes a 19-megapixel Exmor RS sensor. It is equipped with features like 4K video shooting, electronic image stabilization (EIS) and 5-axis stabilization. It is capable of shooting slow motion videos at 960 fps.
The Xperia XZ1 features a 3D creator mode through which users can scan objects and save its 3D image which can be either printed using a 3D printer or shared on social media sites. The front side of the smartphone features a f/2.0 aperture 13-megapixel selfie camera. It has a 22mm wide-angle lens that can be used for shooting group selfies. It is also equipped with EIS and carries support for full HD video shooting.
Performance, Software and Other Features
The Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM is present under the hood of the Xperia XZ1. It features 64 GB of ROM and a microSD card slot for additional storage. The Sony flagship is equipped with a 2,700mAh battery that carries support for Quick Charge 3.0. The smartphone promises to deliver impressive audio experience through features like Hi-Res audio, S-Force surround sound, stereo audio recording and digital noise cancellation. It also features aptX audio software from Qualcomm.
It is the first smartphone from the company to arrive preloaded with Android 8.0 Oreo. The Android OS is customized with the custom UI from Sony. Connectivity options in the Xperia XZ1 include USB-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, USB OTG, GPS, 4G LTE and dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac.
Pricing, Availability and Offers
Starting from today i.e. 25th September, the Sony Xperia XZ1 will be available for buying in India through online and offline channels with a price tag of Rs. 44,990. Even though the company has announced single-SIM and dual-SIM variants for the smartphone, only the latter model will be available in India.
The Japanese tech giant is offering a 5 percent cashback to customers who purchase the Xperia XZ1 through HDFC credit and debit cards. This offer is also available for ICICI credit card holders. In order to lure early buyers, the smartphone will come with a Quick Charge 3.0 charger for a limited period of time. Customers can also avail the Sony Style Stand Cover with the XZ1 at a discounted price of Rs. 2,490 overs its usual price of Rs. 3,490.
Sony had introduced the Sony Xperia XZ1 along with its smaller version called Xperia XZ1 Compact. There is no information available on the arrival of XZ1 Compact for Indian markets. In the last week, the Xperia XA1 Plus was also unveiled in the country with a price tag of Rs. 24,990.
