The Sony PSP Go – the slide out version of the PSP with 16GB onboard memory, and support for Bluetooth, which plays without those pesky mini disks – has been in the international market for ages now but Sony had been loth to launch it in India. So we were pleasantly surprised to spot it in the Croma Store in Connaught Place in Delhi today, retailing for Rs 12,990, and bundled with ten games including Assassin’s Creed (the old one, alas). Although we were assured that it was an above board model, we decided to make sure by visiting Sony India’s website and sure enough, there it was, although the PlayStation Portable section of the site still showed the old PSP first and we had to go into the model’s drop-down list to see the PSP Go listed.
Our query to the salesperson got the response that the console had come in “a few days ago” but was not being pushed because the “older PSP has more games. All we can is “better late than never.” At least gamers in India now have both PSPs to choose from. Which one do we prefer? Well, given the bandwidth issues here, we are sticking with our older one, thank you very much.
