Last week in Shanghai, Todd Bradley of HP had a tough time answering questions from a media gathering that was 500 strong. Multiple questions were raised about HP’s mobile and tablet strategy. Since the failure of webOS / TouchPad last year, HP hasn’t made a comeback into the tablet or smartphone market yet, a market that has almost killed the netbooks market and is growing way faster than PCs. Imagine, off the 80 products announced last week, there were no new netbooks. So what does Todd Bradley say to this?
Well, after dodging the question a couple of times, Todd sorta confirmed working on Windows 8 tablets with Microsoft, but since the question also raised questions on alternate operating systems like Android, he did say it isn’t forever that HP would ship with Windows. Raises hope for a Android / WebOS tablet in future.
I would bet on WebOS, given that the company hasn’t abandoned it, but is finding its time to keep Microsoft happy given the PC partnership. Here is an exclusive video of the reply Todd gave:
