Vivo has just launched the special IPL edition of its flagship smartphone, the Vivo V5 Plus. It comes in a special matte black colour, and commemorates ten years of the Indian Premier League. It is aimed at the selfie market with its 20MP+8MP front camera, but has a special engraving with “Vivo IPL” logo engraved on the back.
The Vivo V5 Plus will be sold exclusively online on Flipkart. Offline, its sale is limited to Vivo exclusive stores and trade outlets. You’ll still have to wait for April 10th to get your hands on the IPL version. The price of this phone is expected to be announced at that time as well.
The price of the standard version of V5 Plus is INR 27,980, and the IPL version can be expected to be a little more than that. Vivo’s tie up with the IPL is also expected to boost sales of its phones across all segments as the brand is brought to the living rooms of TVs all across the country.
The camera is the main selling point of this phone, featuring a dual selfie camera setup. The Sony IMX 376 sensor which has a f/2.0 aperture can be expected to take brilliant selfies and groupfies as you catch the latest score during an IPL match.
Besides the front cam, the phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 graphics card. This is supported by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, which is expandable to 128GB. The phone also runs on Android Marshmallow and has a 3160mAh battery, all of which is inside the premium metal unibody.
The phone also supports VoLTE, which is good news for Jio subscribers, and the phone also supports a fingerprint scanner.
