Vizio, which is better known for its LCD TV’s in the US has taken covers off its first Android powered device. Known as the VIA (not the chip maker!) the phone seems to be quite a capable device complete with a 4-inch touchscreen display a fast 1GHz processor and support for almost all connectivity options you can think of.
The phone also boasts of a 5-megapixel camera and supports microSD cards for expandable memory. A front facing video call camera has been provided as well – although the resolution on this one is unclear. While the features might be similar to the current crop of decently spec’d Android powered handsets, there is one feature that would be exclusive to the VIA.
We are talking about its support for VIA Plus, VIZIO’s connected consumer electronics ecosystem. The phone gets something known as VIA Plus which would allow users to control their VIZIO television sets who also offer VIA Plus support.
Vizio would also be unveiling its Android powered tablet at the CES later this week.
