Taking a cue from its archrivals Airtel, Idea and Reliance, telecom major Vodafone has announced huge cuts in its 3G tariffs. Up to 80% lower than what they have been charging from consumers until now, the idea seems to be to make their 3G plans attractive compared to competition.
From now, the lowest priced 3G plan from Vodafone would cost Rs. 25 for 25 MB worth of data. Those of you who are hooked to 3G all the time might be interested in the Rs.1599 per month plan which lets you transfer up to 12 GB worth of data. The flat rate at which users have been charged for data has been reduced from 10 paisa per 10 kb to 2 paisa per 10 kb.
Along with the reduction in tariffs, Vodafone has also done away with extra charges for data whilst roaming. In a statement, Vodafone says that the company will allow users to use data from their bundle package while on-net roaming across any location in India without any additional charge.
Vodafone India Chief Commercial Officer Sanjoy Mukerji, in a statement issued at the time of the launch of these new data plans said;
“With the introduction of these plans, we aim at establishing a foundation for providing a 3G data plan for everyone, making it affordable to the masses in the country,”
Vodafone is yet to update its website with its new data plan details.
