Voice Assistant “Quick Voice” Launched by LG in Korea

Seems like late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was right when he bet big on Siri, the personal voice assistant for the iPhone 4S, as an important feature on the future smartphones. Since then even Samsung has launched it’s own version of the voice assistant with S Voice.

And LG has also joined the bandwagon with the launch of Quick Voice for it’s smartphone users in Korea.

Quick Voice would be only available on LG’s Android line of smartphones and is set to debut with the Optimus series. The first models in line to get the voice assistant are the LG Optimus Vu and the Optimus LTE II which are supposed to be launched by the end of June and in July respectively.

Quick Voice is expected to work like the S Voice, where in the voice recognition software would allow you to search, make calendar appointments or even pull up videos on YouTube. It will also allow the Korean users to check dates on the Lunar Calendar as well.

There is no official word on when Quick Voice will make its way to other countries of the world.

Voice recognition has been gaining importance and wider acceptance as the same has also been integrated into Smart TV’s as well recently. Importantly, Apple which made voice recognition popular with Siri, seems to clearly hold the advantage as it’s software is a lot more advanced and available in the most number of countries at present. And with the launch of its latest software iOS 6, Apple promises to bring a lot of updates to Siri, which includes making the same available on the New iPad and in a number of additional countries as well.
