Just when we thought smartphones are the only popular online-exclusive products being sold, Vu Technologies has surprised us by another level.
On Thursday, the company launched not just one, but 15 new TV’s which will be selling online on Flipkart as part of an exclusive partnership. The new range will be available to purchase starting from March and the exact prices for each model would be announced then.
For now, we know that the TV’s are of three kinds – Personal TVs, Affordable Luxury TVs, and Hi-Fi 4K UHD TVs. These TV’s start from 19-inches and go up to 85-inches with prices beginning from as low as Rs 9,000 to as high as Rs 9 lakhs.
Personal TVs:
Sizes – 19-inches, 24-inches, 28-inches 32-inches and 40-inches
Price range – Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 29,000
Affordable Luxury TVs:
Sizes – 42-inches, 50-inches, 55-inches and 65-inches
Price range – Rs. 32,000 to Rs. 1,60,000
Hi-Fi 4K UHD TVs:
Sizes – 42-inches, 48-inches, 50-inches, 55-inches, 65-inches and 85-inches
Price range – Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 9,00,000
Vu Technologies has a turnover of Rs. 100 crores with annual sales of 35,000 TV sets. The company aims to achieve a three-fold jump in turnover to Rs. 300 crores in 2015-16 by the means of growing e-commerce sales.
“We would be having a sales of around Rs. 300 crores by the end of next fiscal. We are targeting to sell around 100,000 TV sets in the market by that time and majority of them would come from online sales. We are providing latest Ultra HD or 4K technology at affordable prices. It is 40 percent cheaper than other TV makers,” VU Technologies Design Head and CEO Devita Saraf said.

We are happy to announce this exclusive partnership today and are positive that this will help us offer new-age and advanced electronic products at affordable prices to our customers. Overall, with more and more Indians opening up to shopping online for big ticket items, we are confident that the VU range of HD and UHD televisions will be an instant hit.”
TV’s priced around Rs. 9,000 to 50,000 might sell in good numbers for Vu, but we aren’t sure if consumers in India are ready to buy the higher priced one’s directly online.
