Western Digital has outed its Live Hub media center in India. The drive packs in 1 Terabyte of inbuilt capacity and Full-HD 1080p playback capability. And that’s not all, the Live Hub also supports live internet connection, and lets you enjoy Facebook, Youtube, Flickr and more on your TV. You can either connect a Ethernet connection or a WiFi dongle for internet access. The media center has 2 USB ports that let you connect external hard drive / pendrive to transfer / play your media content. You may even connect your camera, and play back content from it straight on your TV!
The Live Hub acts as a media server and lets you stream content on any DLNA/UPnP compatible hardware. A glimpse of what the future of connected home is heading towards. WD also has mobile apps (and we presume it shall support 3rd party apps as well) that would let you access your content from WD TV Live Hub, thus streaming it directly to your iPad, iPhone or Android device.
We saw a live demo of the WD TV Live Hub recently and its interesting as to how apps like Facebook, Accu weather and Pandora show up on your TV. A little more evolution and there would be little differentiation between home entertainment and travel, television and computer!
WD TV Live Hub will be available in India from end of December 2010. MSRP for the WD TV Live Hub media center is Rs 9, 999/-.
