Windows Phone7 users across the globe would see their devices getting a minor software update to their devices starting today. This update is being issued to prepare the current generation of Windows Phone 7 laden devices to be ready for a slew of updates planner for later this year.
Last week at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Microsoft had announced that it was planning to bring in a host of new features to WP7 including a mobile version of Internet Explorer and of course, copy paste! This current update though doesn’t endow your Windows Phone with any of these features. Instead, this one would act as a primer that would plug some bugs and “prepare” your phone for the updates expected as soon as next month.
Anyway, to install this update all you need to do is to connect your Windows Phone device to your PC and use Microsoft’s Zune software. For Macs, you would require a Windows Phone 7 Connector. Note that Zune software, if already installed on your PC might need an update itself for it to be able to update your phone in turn.
We do have a Windows Phone 7 laden device handy with us so would be looking at this one closely.
