Windows Phone 7 has not actually rocketed as Microsoft or rather the industry would have expected, after over 3 years of delay in responding to the iPhone with a new OS. The smartphone market has evolved tremendously over the past 3.5 years, and Windows Phone 7 as we noted before, is just an attempt, but certainly incomplete. This shows in the figures that we are seeing. 2 million Windows Phone 7 devices sold last quarter!
Leading manufactures have over half dozen devices out in the market, and 2 million is sure a disappointment in many ways (even if we give the company credit for being on sale for only 2 months last quarter). We would wait to see the firmware update from Microsoft next month, but as we hear, its not going to bring anything revolutionary. Competition is increasing every passing day & Microsoft needs some magic to ensure that this thing starts to fly off the shelves… and that has to me more than just customer satisfaction stats!
