Microsoft has just sent out invites to members of the press that confirm that a “New Generation of Xbox” shall be revealed less than a month from now on May 21st! Rumors thus far have heated up quite a bit as to the features of the new Xbox 720 and not all of them have been merry. Loads of controversy has been stirred up by rumors that the new Xbox might require you to always be online and not even let you play games you already own if your internet connection is unavailable.
This would be somewhat disastrous in our country, where internet outages are commonplace. Also, knowing the nature of most game pirates, they would eventually be able to circumvent such restrictions and the only ones who shall suffer would be honest, paying customers.
Hopefully, come May 21st, Microsoft is able to quell such rumors and showcase a product that can live up to the high benchmarks set by the Xbox 360. Also, if we’re lucky, we might also get a glimpse at its chassis as well, unlike the Playstation 4 event, which was a disappointment in that regard.
According to a statement given by Larry Hryb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, the May 21 event shall be a deep dive into the future of the console itself, while most of the game line-up shall be unveiled 19 days later, at E3 in Los Angeles.
Hold your breath, ladies and gentlemen, the console wars just got a little more interesting.
