Earlier in this month, XDA Developers had revealed the key specs of Xiaomi’s upcoming budget phone called Redmi S2. The publication had claimed that the handset will be coming soon to markets like China and India. The arrival of Redmi S2 in China seems to be very close at hand since it has already received certifications from TENAA and 3C regulatory bodies in the home country. Today, tech sites from Czech Republic have shared hands-on images and video of the Redmi S2. Also, the specifications of the phone have leaked once again along with its pricing for Vietnam.
Xiaomi Redmi S2 Design
Appearance-wise, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 that features vertical dual camera and u-shaped antenna bands at the top and bottom edges of back panel. Hence, it resembles the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi 6X China-exclusive phone that was launched recently. The dimensions of the metal unibody of Redmi S2 are 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm and it weighs 170 grams. Its backside houses a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The hands-on images of the Redmi S2 have revealed that it sports a full screen design with an elongated 18:9 aspect ratio screen. The front camera seems to be equipped with an LED flash. It does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. The bottom edge of the phone features a microUSB port that is placed between a pair of external speakers. The volume rocker and power key are placed on the right edge of the Redmi S2.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Specifications and Features
The leaked firmware files of the Redmi S2 had revealed that it features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It was also revealed through the firmware files that the handset is powered msm8953 SoC which revealed that it features the power-efficient Snapdragon 625. Also, CPU-Z benchmark listing of the Redmi S2 has also confirmed that SD625 is present under the hood of the Redmi S2. It is expected to be fueled by 3,080mAh battery.
The TENAA listing has revealed that the Redmi S2 will be available in multiple storage choices of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. These storage variants are expected to respectively feature 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will come pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo and it is likely to feature the latest edition of the MIUI 9 skin.
It has been unearthed through the firmware files that the Redmi S2’s dual camera setup includes a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 or OmniVision OV12A10 as the primary sensor. It will be coupled with 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 secondary sensor. For capturing selfie shots, it may feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The dual cameras are expected to sport features like Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Portrait Mode. The front camera will carry support for facial recognition function.
Xiaomi Redmi S2 Pricing
A leaked image showing the pricing of Redmi S2 for Vietnam has also surfaced today. It states that the country will be receiving Redmi S2 with a price tag of VND 3,999,000 (~Rs. 11,695).
Fresh rumors suggest that Xiaomi will be releasing two Android One devices in India. The Mi 6X is rumored to launch Mi A2 Android One phone. It is now speculated that the Redmi S2 may also arrive in India as an Android One phone.
