Indian smartphones manufacturer Xolo seems to be on a roll. The company which had a string of recent launches has listed its newest device on its official website. The handset happens to be a large screened phablet going by the name of the Xolo Q2000. Xolo has also detailed the specifications of the device on its website. Let’s see what it has on offer.
We start with the display which on this device is a 5.5 inch 720p IPS panel which translates to a PPI density of 267. Powering the handset is the much (ab)used Mediatek MT6589 W chipset . This SoC houses a quad core processor running at 1.2 Ghz as well as the PowerVR SGX 544 chipset with a Graphics chip trundling along at 357 Mhz. There is 1 GB of RAM which will ensure that the phone would not end up stuttering after long hours of usage. The internal memory of 8 GB can be expanded further using micro SD cards. The device supports GSM and 3G networks and like most other Xolo’s out there, sports dual SIM card slots.
The camera happens to be a 13 megapixel unit with BSI2 sensor – which claims better low light performance. Then there is the 2 megapixel front camera which you can use for video calling and skyping. The rear camera can also capture videos in full HD. The phablet sports a 2600 mAH battery which if I may add is a tad too less for a device this size. It however does claim a 17 hour talk time.
Other features for the rear camera includes Image Stabilization, Scene detection & tuning, High Dynamic Range (HDR), Low Light enhancement, Face recognition (For focusing as well as in Gallery), Vertical & Horizontal Panorama capture and Geo tagging.
The phablet will run Android 4.2 at launch and should have no issues getting itself updated to KitKat soon. But then these Indian brands have not been that great when it comes to rolling out frequent updates.
Anyway, we hope Xolo would be bringing this to the markets officially in the days to come.
